ALBUM MICRO REVIEW 2 - SEWNSHUT
"Myopic" - Sewnshut's chosen title, I'll guess refers to man's thwarted and blinkered outlook on life and the ramifications of this: a distinct lack of longview in a world where quick fixes and quick bucks reign supreme. As well as oodles of musical and production nous Sewnshut definitely has vision. Out of Molde, Norway he delivers a small almost fragile album which bursts with cool fluid tracks and a quirky hypnotic pace. It's addictive stuff! A good fix!
Momentarily it feels tranquil, mystical - a fjord shrouded in mist - but then chaotic lifts in rhythm and speed akin to early Four Tet muddle the vibe. The chill soon returns. Despite the broad and busy electronic range employed this album is extremely and ultimately relaxing. . Get creative. Get horizontal. Get Zen. A balm for bad days and crazy epochs.
Top drawer lo-fi electronica with something extra, something different and intangible!
